A blind grey seal sniffs her newborn pup. Even though she is totally blind in both eyes, this will not hamper her in raising her pup or continuing to live for many years. Seals can hunt successfully just by using their sensitive whiskers underwater, sight is not nessicary.
**NOTE ABOUT THE PUP** after several concerned comments about the pup in this picture, I'd like to add that this pup has blood on him because he was recently born and had been lying on his placenta. The blood is not his, and he was fine
Too cute, I love seals. To have a child is to ever have your heart walking out side of your body. It doesn't matter if she can't see him she can feel him, in her heart. What a beautiful touching picture.
thanks yes it is always nice watching mother/pup pairs of seals, seals are normally so aggressive its nice to see them acting tenderly towards their pups!
