Three at Play by Shadow-and-Flame-86 Three at Play by Shadow-and-Flame-86
More of the adorable baby otters at the cotswold wildlife park, playing with rocks! Like the other shot I put up of these guys, I'm asking for crit on this because again I'm really not sure about it, especially the narrow depth of field... would love to know what everyone thinks anyway.

One other thing that my watchers may have noticed is yes, I have succumbed to watermarking my photos. I'm sorry, but I had to. After three years of turning a blind eye to all the uncredited re-posting, the final straw was someone selling one of my images on t-shirts in another country. After that, I am trying to protect my photos a bit better. I hate watermarks, and I wish I didn't have to do it but such is life. You may also notice that there is a website in the watermark, yes I now have one which is very exciting. Or it would be if I could upload photos to it! Hopefully I will get that bug sorted out soon and it will be up and running with my work on it :aww:

The composition is is fantastic and I think your DOF works. Do those little fellas have their tongues sticking out or stoes in their mouths, lol?

Watermarking is a personal preference and your's isn't annoying or detracting from the image. I think it's crazy that people still do that with the amount of stock photos that are available today.

hehe no they just all have weird pale lower jaw skin!

yeah I was suprised that I needed to start watermarking but... too many blatant and unrepenant art theives around to avoid it anymore!

So adorable! I like the narrow DOF, brings the focus on the most interesting otter in the group, as he is holding his paws up. I like the watermark too, nice and simple, doesn't detract too much. :)

Personally I like shallow DOF but I can see why you might not be sure, with more than one subject. However I think the fact the guy in focus is the most interesting of the three, and with the DOF not being overly shallow (meaning all three are still part of the action, so to speak), means it works. The main guy is the focal point because of what he is doing AND the focus, but the other two are still clear enough to make this a photo of three otters, not one. I am totally rambling because I don't seem to be able to make any sense right now lol but I hope you know what I'm getting at!

Re the site - awesome! And anyone who complains about watermarks is just stirring if you ask me, I've seen enough people moan about it for no good reason. You are totally entitled to protect your work so no need to apologise. And t-shirts!! - The cheek of it!

thanks for the feedback mand, hehe I am very excited to get my own site altough its STILL a work in progress, I'll announce it properly once I am finished with it!

Thankfully the guy with the t-shirts was very nice about the whole thing and stopped right away. He even offered to send me the profits of the t-shirts he'd sold already, but I told him to donate them to WWF instead =)

soo...much...cute!
If I ever see the little little ones in person I might have to take one....

It would be neat to see all 3 in focus, but I don't think the one out of focus takes away from the image (either that or I'm stuck in a cloud of cute now!)

hehe not sure if a little otter would appreciate being stolen! :giggle:

thanks for the feedback, none of the shots that day have all of them in focus DOF wise unfortunatly, it was winter and too dark for the right settings! =(
