Hello everyone!
So after a week of being back in civilisation, this weekend (possibly this afternoon, depending on the weather!) I'm heading out to the Isle of May for the second part of my fieldwork. I'll be staying there for 4 weeks studying the breeding grey seals there for my PhD. I won't be properly back to civilisation until mid december! The isle of may site is more domesticated than Rona, you can see mainland, there is electricity and running water (but not enough to shower with!) and there is some patchy mobile phone receoption as well as limited internet in the head wardens office. So While I may pop into DA every now and again, for most of the next 4 weeks you won't hear much from me. You can check out our blog though if you want to keep up with what I and the team are up to! While I'm gone, I'm running a big marine mammal art and photo contest through my group
, the deadline is december so why not enter! VERY FEW PEOPLE have entered so far, I guess I might have to extend the deadline when I get back and plug it a bit more to get entries. There are lots of premium memberships up for grabs! Check out this journal here to enter: shadow-and-flame-86.deviantart…So bye for now, I'll HOPEFULLY be taking lots of photos while I'm out, the isle of may generally has better hide sites for taking my SLR without it getting wrecked so I hopefully will get to use it more than I did on Rona. So you can look forward to lots MOAR seal photos when I get back! Also, people seem to be liking my dead bird reference photos. Would you guys like more reference photos like this? If so, and if I find more dead birds in the next 4 weeks, I'll take more shots. If you have any requests of particular parts of the body (wings/legs/eyes etc) or any particular veiw points or limb positions just comment here.
