Seal pup hugs

Hello from a remote Scottish island DA people!

I'm back out in the wilderness to study the grey seals on the Isle of May, a island which is home to thousands of breeding seals in the winter and sea birds in the summer. If you'd like to read more about our adventures with the seals over the next two months we now have a blog (kellyrobinsonscience.wordpress…) and a twitter feed (@KJRScience) which you can tune into.

There are lots of mother - pup pairs on the Isle of May currently, and the mothers are currently feeding their pups so that they can wean them in 18 days time. These two are spending some quality time playing together!

PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH BREEDING SEALS! This photo was taken during a routine research survey of the breeding colony, all of our research team has years of training and experience to help us do our work with minimal disturbance to the seals. Please do not attempt to sneak up to seals as you will likely seriously disturb the mothers and pups, which can result in abandonment and death for the pup.
